Electrician Schools in New York
Electricians install, maintain, repair, and test the electric wiring systems in a home, office, or other building. Some perform work on machines or appliances. A career as an electrician requires, not a college degree, but an apprenticeship with a master electrician. This apprenticeship lasts between four and five years, and during that time the student learns the skills and safety precautions necessary to the trade. He or she also needs to be familiar with national, state, and local building and electrical codes (laws and standards). Some apprentice electricians choose to supplement their learning with online courses or other studies.
